Magadelne Blue, grew up in Wisconsin, in a small town with a musical theater, the theater was local in the town, and had school choirs, and plenty of vocal jazz traditions.  Mary played french horn, trombone, and baritone, in the school band.  Mary later attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire “Wisconsin’s Singing University”, where she performed in several ensembles, including their top choir.  The top choir was called, the honor a cappella group “Impromptu”, where she helped them make it to the Midwestern Regional Quarterfinals, (aka the movie Perfect Pitch) and they also recorded an album.

In 2004, she graduated college with a degree in Spanish Education.  She married that same summer and moved to Spain.  Two years later out of loneliness and missing music, she signed up for guitar lessons and started secretly putting her poetry to chords and making up melodies.  In 2006, she started performing professionally with a couple different pop/rock cover and jazz duos (piano and guitar) in local bars and cafés.  In 2010, she and a friend formed a band, called “Memphis Belle”.  At it’s biggest it was a 6-piece band, consisting of Guitar, bass, and drums, while Mary played the acoustic on some songs, there was also a saxophone/harmonica player in the band as well.

They recorded a 6 song EP in 2014, played and performed it regionally, yet they were still able to make it to the Spanish national semi-finals in Madrid, and performed at the Hard Rock Café’s annual new band competition, which was held at the then famous Cavern in Liverpool.

In 2016 it was time to let go and go solo.  In 2017 she launched Magdalene Blue and recorded her first full-length album.  It was initially intended to be an acoustic demo but turned out well, so as an an independent artist she decided to share it with the world as an album.  In October she was invited to Paris to play in a Female Singer-songwriter Concert Series so I booked a mini-tour with two other dates and turned it into an album release mini-tour.  Later, While in Madrid Over the holidays, Mary booked a show in one of Madrid’s most famous jazz clubs and did it all again, but this time with a jazz pianist.

In May, 2018, Mary took a big leap and accepted an invitation to go to and perform, in a showcase at the Objective Sessions in Nashville.  It’s there that she met Will and Scott, the owners of Touch Music Group, and soon after decided to join them in focusing on another few projects.  This summer she made it to the semi-finals in a Madison talent contest but Mary was out of the country for the next round and couldn’t attend the last leg of the event.

The event was a success as many opportunities have opened up for Mary after the event, Mary say’s “It was fun singing back Stateside, since I haven’t been performing much over the last few years”.  I have studied voice on and off my whole life but for 3 years now I have been consistently studying mainly classical voice with a professor of voice in Oviedo and it has changed everything for me.  I will no doubt be a student of voice until the day I die.  There is so much to learn.”
